Welcome, welcome…Come on in and wipe your paws at the doormat! If you’re visiting us for your first time over from Vanessa’s Halloween Party, we’re so glad to meet you. We’re the two cats that own our witchy-mother, Wendy. And we’re purring with happiness at seeing our friends with their familiar faces and whiskers! Mother keeps trying to take good photos of us, but being cats, we don’t like to hold still, but we think you’ll still be able to admire how beautiful we are.
This is a photo of moi, Miss Bella!
I’m the perfect witch’s companion, not just because I’m all black (well, I have a little white diamond) but I think I rather look like the Egyptian Cat goddess, Bastet. What do you think? Bast is our house guardian and makes sure that we’re all protected from harm and evil.
And this is me, Sele. I don’t like to fly around so much on broomsticks through the night, so, I keep the bed warm when mom gets in from a chilly night.
Now, that we’ve made all our introductions can we interest you in a cup of saucer of cream or a candied mouse? No? No mice for you tonight? We understand, it’s an acquired taste. Since, we’re not allowed to eat chocolate or other candy that mom likes to indulge in especially this time of the year, she found this recipe for pet treats over on Pet Place which we love! And it’s not just for us cats, we have some dog friends who gobble these up too. You can use any shape of cookie cutter to make them, but personally it’s not a big deal to us what they look like. They’re called “Cat Claws“, and here’s the recipe….
(Makes 18 Treats)
1/4 cup warm water
5 Tablespoons parmesan cheese
3 Tablespoons soft margarine
1 Tablespoon cod liver oil
1 cup white flour
1/4 cup soy flour
Preheat oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit.
Combine water, cheese, margarine and oil. Add flour and form a dough.
Roll to 1/4 inch thick and cut with a cookie cutter.
Bake at 300 degrees F. on an un-greased cookie sheet for 20 to 25 minutes, or until cookies are lightly golden.
Now that you’ve had a little bite to eat and are refreshed, we’d like to show you the altar mom has created for the cats that have previously owned her and for us of course. She performs all her spell work here when performing cat magick.
Look through the eyes of a cat and tell us what YOU see!
Cat’s eyes reflect the moonlight and can see hidden creatures that fly and bump around in the night that are invisible to those who don’t believe.
Our very good friend, Leila makes purrfectly gorgeous art and you simply must visit her blog and then wander on over to her Etsy shop. She made the Day of the Dead Skeleton Kitty you can see hanging on the wall about our altar. We also own this art print below that Leila made.
And because we love it so much, we’re giving away the same print we own because we know you’ll enjoy it so much too. Mom loves to look at this when she lights candles for all of our ancestors who were hurt or killed during a very terrible time in history which she told us was called, “The Burning Times.” We shudder every time we think of cruel humans who hate us because the color of our coats or even more because we happen to be cats.
Oh and before you leave, we’re also giving away two small more things, one of our favorite books which talks about Cats and Magic. You can see the book on our altar. It’s called “Cat Magic” by Patricia Telesco.
And because every good witch likes to have trinkets, we’re also giving away this hand-crafted necklace of a slinky Cat Woman.
Of course for humans, there always needs to be rules. So, if you would like to enter this giveaway, our mother says this is what you need to do:
1) Leave a comment with your name and a sentence or two about why you like cats (and be sure to leave a way to reach you in case you win!).
And for extra ways to win; you can either:
A) Blog about it and then leave a link in a comment here to your blog post.
B) Twitter about it and then let us know.
Make sure you leave a different comment for each way that you enter.
The giveaway will end a week from now on; Saturday, October 23 and the last chance to enter will be 11:00 p.m. our time here (Pacific Standard Time).
Good luck to everyone!

Wendy, thank you so much for the love (I’m not entering this giveaway, but I wanted to say thanks)!! Your cat altar is lovely, I’m touched seeing my art in such a place of honor! Your sweet kitties remind me of my black kitty, Mr. Meow.
The funny thing is, I don’t like cats that much. Or well, I like all living beings, but I would never have thought I’d have to share my place with cats. I’m a dog person, really. But then my sister rescued these cute kittens (someone had tried to drown them) and she raised them and then she couldn’t keep them because of all the trouble with her husband and baby and other pets, and… here we are. Since April, I guess, I have been terrorized by two beautiful, slightly crazy, possibly inbred cats who love water (not only for drinking – we guess they are Turkish van, at least part of them), open our cupboards, steal our stuff and spend way too much time coming up with more nonsense. I guess if they disappear I’d actually miss them. (^v^)
(I love them. Honestly.)

Miss Bella is quite lovely, but I have to say I’m a fan of Sele. The last cat who lived with us was black and white and marked very much like her. He was a handsome fellow I named Spook, sadly he had to move on as he was a stray before coming to us and was used to the wild life. He knew how to open doors (though he couldn’t quite do it without thumbs) and he had a nasty habit of “marking his territory”. Ugh. We kept finding things he’d considered his long after he was gone.

Thank you so much, kitties, for giving such a lovely tour of your home!
I always fancied myself a dog person, but once my husband and I got our own place two tiny kittens whom we rescued moved in and took over. They’re mischievous and like to cause trouble, but they also have a loving, cuddly streak and sometimes try to be helpful.

What a gorgeous altar, Wendy! The cat skeleton is especially wonderful! I love cats because they are so independent. They always let us know that it is our privilege to be their servants.

I’ve always loved cats & always had a cat.
My parents were great & let me keep strays – that slowly were allowed inside.
When I went flatting I stole a kitten as the neighbours were not looking after it & I took it when I moved. Whn 16 my dh helped me rescue a kitten, I always picked flats to live in where I could have a cat. Most of our cats have been black n white or ginger. We now breed cats as a hobby – mandalay (jet black) & Burmese cats.

I feel like I’m now properly acquainted with Miss Bella and Miss Sele. They’re gorgeous, Wendy. Bella has the most intense glare and I can see the Egyptian link!
Although I don’t have the pleasure of being a cat’s servant (yet) I used to love my own cat for her independence and the way she’d snuggle on my lap and purr.

Wonderful post. Thank you for the kind offer. Cats are independent – and I like that very much. They are loving and affectionate – but they do as they please.

What beautiful cats you are! I love all the things you have shared, especially the altar and the recipe-I have never considered making treats-only buying them-I shall be back to write it down! I have to say, mu smallest cat actually loves chocolate, and if I don’t stop her she will steal it! I love cats because they are so lovable! Beautiful, characterful and funny. Little furry people. Thanks for your lovely party!
Thank you for hosting my cat, Mina, and I at your party. We had the most delightful time. It’s odd, I was always a dog person (ahh, the horror!), but after taking in a stray black cat, I fell in love!

My dearest Bella and Sele! What a purrfect pair to host this party!! Only us cats know how to do it purrfectly well, don’t we!?!!! Humans try, it’s true, but well….they are human and at least they try. Why should one like a cat?? You’re kidding right? You like a cat so that you can LOVE a cat!!!
Anyway, thanks for the fun party – purrs!

That is oh so cute! I would love to be entered in the giveaway! I love cats because they are very majestic and intelligent creatures. My little Salem lives with his grandparents, but once I get a home where I can have pets he will move back in with Mommy soon. Mommy misses him so.
Also, I was dropping by to let you know that I gave you 3 awards. Please drop by my blog and check them out!

I enjoyed your lovely Cat filled party. Me and my cat, Mabel especially loved the Bast statute. Something I need to get for my own home. Needless to say, we both love to win the Catwoman necklace.
What a wonderful feline party. I love your kitties. What I like most about kitties is how they move around so sleakly.

OOH, what a wonderful party. I am very allergic to cats, and as a infant and toddler I had been put into the hospital in an oxygen tent and almost died before they figured out what was triggering my asthma, CATS (among other things) But I was always, ALWAYS drawn to them, and had begged my parents for years to “let’s try again” So badly I wanted cats I was willing to risk my health and LIFE. As an adult in my late 20s, and had been on allergy shots for almost 2 years before quitting. I finally decided I was going to do it. I rescued 1, then another. I found if they stayed off my bed and away from my face, and I washed my hands after them being petted or whatever, I was successfully able to be “owned”!!
I did a year’s worth of allergy shots again in my mid thirties. I have been owned by many, many beautiful and different cats over the years.
The best cat, Boots(ie) was such a love, and was my nurse while I was sick in bed so badly with MRSA and on an IV and all, she only left my bed to eat and use her box. She was with us for 17.5 years before I had to be a brave girl and put her down for blindness and kidney failure. I was lost. Boots was a black calico (tortouise shell) about a month after she was gone a black calico, turned up in our yard, and came to me within days of putting dry food out. (we live far off in the woods…she like so many other had been discarded) “Pretty” is now my baby, and though personality is a little different than Boots, I feel “the powers that be” send her to me.
I know this was more than a few sentences, sorry.
I used to have a pendant with Bast, I lost it. sad. I do not even remember where I got it.
Anyway, I would TRULY be honored in a chance to win that book!
Peace,
Susan

Oh Wendy I just love your cats… I do so miss my black ones, although I do have a tall black male that comes and visits on occasions. He has the most beautiful voice.
Your alter is gorgeous and I do agree, Leilas work is wonderful…
Your kitties are adorable! Thanks for sharing and visiting me!
What is not to love about cats? If you once shared your life with one of those little panthers, you know what I am talking about… I miss my black cat (completely black with wild, but sweet personality) and hope to adopt another cat some time in future.
Anyway, it has been so nice to meet you and your cats — your altar is incredible! Thanks also for the chance to win such a treasure.
Greetings from Germany,
Birgit
