When you’re walking up to a house for the first time or it’s a house you live in or are familiar with, what’s the first thing you see? It’s the front door of course. A door is the gateway that invites you into what lays beyond. It can fill you with intrigue, or delight, or wonder. It tells you what type of people may live inside and whether you’re welcome or not.
I mean think about it, if you see a dusty and dirty door with cobwebs decorating it, with perhaps a sign that either literally or metaphorically says “stay away”, aren’t you going to have second thoughts about entering the abode. Even apartment doors can be decorated in a way that stands out and is welcoming and pretty to look at.
Back to the title of this post…a blog makeover. So, if your front door is the “face” of your house, then your BLOG HEADER is the door of your blog. Yes, of course most people want to read your content and like to look at pretty images, but really the first thing they’ll notice is your header. Does it tell people about your personality? Does it give an insight into what your blog is really about and who you are? Of course it does!
I’m not saying that your blog header needs to be custom just for you or that a generic type of header will make or break who reads your blog, but just like a front door to your house, you hopefully want people to be welcomed into your virtual world and stay around for a while.
If you notice I like to change my blog header for the different seasons. I love to change the feeling and tone of my blog to match how I move with the seasons. I am just learning how to create in photoshop but I have a long ways to go in learning how to create gorgeous blog headers. So, my wonderful friend Lyn, who most of you know from her own blog, “Witch Blog” is having an amazing giveaway.
Lyn wants to introduce her web design skills to the public and show off her talent (she didn’t say the last part, that was really my ode to her) and so decided to have a giveaway for a custom blog header or website banner to the winner which you can read more about here.
Her web-design service is called “Rosmerta Services” and if you visit her site you can see all the examples of the gorgeous work she does.
It doesn’t matter if you use Blogger, WordPress (hosted by WordPress or self-hosted), Typepad or any other blogging program. Lyn will work with you so that you have a blog banner that she will customize perfectly for you.
Below are some of the gorgeous images she’s created in Photoshop along with a simpler blog header image which she can design for you:
If you would like to have a new theme to match your blog header if you win her giveaway, than I’d be more than happy to help you pick out the colors, design, custom fonts etc…
You don’t have to worry about adding your own blog title text/tagline to your header and we’ll find the perfect theme to match your gorgeous new design. Whether you want a pagan/witchy design, something natural and simple etc..she can design it. No muss, no fuss (if only life were that easy!).
Lyn was going to end her giveaway this last Friday, but I convinced her to extend it until July 1 which falls on a Friday and ends at Midnight (U.K. Time) which is where she lives.
To enter:
1) leave a comment at her giveaway blog post.
and
If you want to add her blog button giveaway for an extra chance to win, just add the below button in your blogs sidebar and link to her design website, Rosmerta Design. Please leave in your entry comment that you HAVE put up her button and a link to your blog.
Good luck and I can’t wait to see your new blog header!

Yes, I’ve already entered over at Lyn’s blog. Isn’t it an amazing giveaway? I love all the headers she’s made for your blog!
very timely – I’ve been fluffing around with mine changing to a winter theme – very basic! I still haven’t worked out how to put photos in title…
Love Leanne
Thank you Wendy! I am SO going to hire you to do my PR and marketing
Thank you for the heads up Wendy! I sent you an email let me know if you didnt get it!
well the door thing must speak volumes about me, our outside porch door is very old and was an old (jalosy…sp) turn out glass panels, well all the panels were falling out etc. so we just filled it with plywood, as we know eventually we wanted to replace the entire porch, moving the entry door. I guess the outside of the old part of the house at least says “White trash” LOL.
I’ve already joined the giveaway. I have liked most of your banners very much. I liked the winter one you picked that was only up for a few days before you switched to the all white one. In general the last one was nice, but I think a bit too much orange.
I love the fairy part and the overall image of this present one, but in my opinion, and that IS all it is,is my opinion. That the fairy is showing too much.
I like my current banner, I’d like to find perhaps a cosmic goddess to place on it, and I would love to have more cosmic stuff on my blog to match, and I need a BUTTON so very much. Lyn asked us to like her internet graphic business on FB and I have.
If we add her button, do we need to go back and let her know we did it?

where is the petition you want people to sign?
Susan
I’ll tell you about the petition in another post..I was going to write up a really quick post about it, but it’s a really complex issue…
