First Kick-Ass Blog Award!

Print Print

Aine over at “The Deepest Well” blog has inspired me once more by creating her own  blog award to give to someone who “has amazed/informed/ entertained/intrigued me the most.” I loved her idea of creating her own award and then picking a blog she liked. I asked her if could swipe the idea, to which she replied; “yes, steal away.” So with her permission, I’m making my own blog award and giving it to blogs who I think KICK-ASS!

Definitions of “Kick-Ass” according to “Urban Dictionary;”

1) “If somethings kick ass, its really cool. Great! As in it kicks the ass of all else.”

(2010 Urban Dictionary: Kick Ass. Retrieved November 04, 2010, from http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php? term=Kick+Ass)

2) Verb: to be really, really, really cool. <present tense>.

(2010 Urban Dictionary: Kick Ass. Retrieved November 04, 2010, from http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php? term=Kick+Ass)

And the final definition, (although I’m not advocating violence in any way):

3) Intransitive verb. To win in a fight without contest. Derived from (rare) to send the opponent on the run and deliver a parting blow with one’s foot at the decisive conclusion.

Adjective. The ability to win in a fight or argument without contest.
Noun. By extension, anything that would rock hard enough to win in a fight or as the subject of an argument.

(2010 Urban Dictionary: Kick Ass. Retrieved November 04, 2010, from http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php? term=Kick+Assz)

I love the whole blog awards, but some of these seem like a chain letter where you have to post x-amount of things about yourself (which I don’t mind doing and I like reading the lists of others) and then to pass on the award to x-amount of blogs.

I’ve noticed a lot of people don’t accept awards because they can become a hassle with all the acceptance rules. So, NO rules allowed when it comes to bestowing my award, other than I hope that the blog I pick accepts it.

So now I unveil my blog award:

Catwoman awardOne of my main heroine’s is: Catwoman (a.k.a. Selina Kyle) some of you might know her from the comics (which yes, I admit I’m a comic book geek), have heard  about her or have seen any of the movies (hated them all!) or met the character on the original Batman show and there’s also the cartoons series she has prowled into. I love Catwoman for a lot of reasons, and I’ve blogged about her a few times and you can count on the fact, I’ll keep blogging about her.

Catwoman represents to me, someone who is deadly beautiful, independent, strong and a bit mischievous. She’s also Batman’s equal and keeps him on his toes. A woman after my own heart and of course she’s a comic-book cat goddess extraordinaire.

Catwoman - BatmanSo, when I give my humble blog award that means, I love your blog and that you’re a rocking “hero, heroine or villain!” that deserves to be recognized. And of course the girls give their full paw of approval!

My first blog to be awarded is: Jamie-Lyn from “The Diary of a Bald Girl.” She writes with honesty, depth, creates beautiful art and is a witch in the best sense of the word! I think you’ll see why I awarded her blog when you visit. She’s also running a giveaway I would love to win. Go check out the prize and how to enter here.

Purrrs to you, Jamie-Lyn!

About Wendy S.

I'm slightly "mad" with a good shaking of whimsy thrown in for good measure. When I'm not up, I'm down and sometimes if I'm lucky I'm somewhere in between due largely to having Bipolar Disorder and crazy genes ; ) I'm pagan by nature and witch by choice and I have two very beloved and spoiled feline familiars, Miss Bella and her sister, Sele. Am I a crazy cat lady? I'm an introvert in the "real" world but I love meeting new friends especially in the blogosphere where I've been blessed to meet many of you. Please introduce yourself if you'd like so that we can get to know each other better, especially if you have a blog that I can visit. And thank you for flying the friendly skies of United Broom Stick Airlines with me. Hold onto your hat, it's going to be an interesting ride.

Wendy, I love your awsome blog award whats better than a catwoman award! So great! Thinking along these lines have you ever seen ‘The Cat Returns’ by Hayao Miyazaki? It is a wonderful cat flick that I can imagine you curling up with your kitties and really enjoying. Also I have two wonderful kitty photos that I wish to share with you, I’ll probably email them to you, just so you know its not spam!
    Blessings oh great cat woman!

    Oh Thank you, Thank you.
YOu may be wondering when exactly my mother and father knew they were the proud parents of a lil girl genius. Was it when I wrote my first piano sonnet while in my mothers fruitful womb? The fact that I could spell antidisestablishmentarianism by aged 1? Or was it when I went backpacking through the Congo and managed to survive a year using only a toilet paper roll, a paper clip and an avocado as my hunting tools and of course having fashioned it into a tiny tv, My entertainment. ?
    I don’t know. I don’t know. I don’t even care. What really matters here is that…*Big breaths*
You love me…. I mean, You really really love me. Thank you for this award. I promise to place it on my Blogger page and to use it as a reminder to do good things everyday! To Fight world hunger and other tragic events, like men leaving the toilet seats up. I will fight against that! For you, and for me. And for Cats a like everywhere.

This award truly means a lot. THANK YOU.

*Trips whilest walking down from podium*

Silliness aside. Thank you Wendy. This is very cool of you :)

Did you really go to the Congo??? And I knew I picked you for the right reasons. I still can’t spell “antidisestablishmentarianism” and just copied and pasted it here ; ) And yes, like Sally Field, we like you, we really, really like you! And I have no doubt you’ll do the name of “Catwoman” proud. And please tell us how you get men to leave the toilet seat down. That’s truly an act of heroism! You’re most welcome, Jamie-Lyn…Tripping with you down the podium ; )

      • Why yes, I did go to the Congo. It wasn’t by choice really. My family and I were on a ship heading to Africa to feed and clothes and give hope to some poor souls. This is when I was 3, by the way. When A large storm hit. and sunk our ship. my parents were thrown to sea. But I do have a foggy memory of them being lifted into a life boat. I clutched a floating mannequin leg (don’t ask me why there was one in the sea) and drifted off. Ending up on the shores of the congo. It was pretty lonely there. Until An ape decided to take care of me. I also made friends with a cheetah. My english is remarkable, considering all I did until I was 20 was make growls and hisses at things.
Anyways I was found and brought back to canada eventually. But thats a whole other story. I got lost yet again, this time in India. I was also befriended. But this time by a bear and a panther.
I’ll save that one for later.

You are such a rock-star Jamie. I cannot BELIEVE the adventure you had in the Congo, wow! I hope you do some blogging about them. I mean your story is right out of a Shakespeare novel. Have you ever read “The Tempest?” I think you’d love it and the Goddess was really watching out for you and your family in the storm, you got some good mojo working for you, girl! I would love, love, love to meet a cheetah. I adore cats obviously and Cheetahs are so beautiful and gentle. Did you get to touch her/him? And India??? And the Bear and the Panther? You’re the equivalent of “Mowgli” in female form. That’s another story I want to hear about. I’m in awe! My life has been so tame compared to yours ; )

          • You ain’t heard Nothing yet 😉
Actually truth is, my whole side of my father family. Are nothing but story tellers. HOWEVER, sometimes they start to believe their stories …
One day my dad told me that my graet great grandmother was Pocahontas . I think I was in grade 3. So I went to school and told all the kids. And then they laughed at me. SO I told my dad about how cruel they were.
Then he laughed at me to….
            Thanks a lot dad.

Lol I love them, my story tellers. But sometimes the stories become confusing and I’m not sure what to believe lol.

Hmmm, you know it wouldn’t surprise me if you WERE related to Pocahontas, Jamie-Lyn ; ) I can’t believe your dad told you that though! What was he thinking? obviously he wasn’t. And what a way to set an example for a child. My parents were pretty kooky but they would never set me up like that. We all sometimes blur the lands of reality and “what-could-be”. I told some horrible lies in elementary school for attention. Someday, I’ll post about them, but you sound like you’ve retained your sense of humour about the situation which does make you a N. American Princess in my eyes : )

I remember reading about you being another Catwoman fan, Lyn. Great minds think alike, eh? Didn’t you also post about “The Avengers”? Perhaps an “Emma Pel” award? I think that would be perfect for you! And there’s still time for you to dress up as “Catwoman” for Samhain/Halloween. You’d be purrrrfect ; )

  5. What a great idea! And Catwoman has never been done full justice to on TV and in the movies. The best Catwoman so far, IMHO, was Eartha Kitt.

    • avatar Wendy S. says:

I liked Eartha too, Debra, but Julie Newmar had her own magick. I heard they’re including Catwoman in the “Batman” movies with Christian Bale. I really like how they’ve portrayed the characters so far, I just hope they don’t pick another lame actress. I would love to see Angelina Jolie as “Catwoman” but I think her age would be wrong for Christian Bale’s character.

Your black cat could be a twin to the female stray cat I feed. Unfortunately she will not come in the house because of my cat Zelda. At first she was very frightened and skittish of me. But now, often when I bring her food out to the back deck, she’s all around my feet, and actually brushed up against my hand once. I’m pondering a cat magic spell, for both cats to accept each other in peace. I love the top banner on your blog “The Year Of The Cats” I’m wondering how so many blogs, bringing out their creative personalities have such attractive websites. I’m a little new to graphics and blogging, so I’m stuck with plainess, or what ever I can find? I hope you don’t mind if I ask you this question. Did you create that lovely graphic yourself, or can you order and purchase certain graphic’s?

Hi Fiona, I know cats are very, very territorial. My two girls are from the same litter and fortunately love each other. I read it’s a lot easier to have a cat of the opposite sex brought into a household. I love the idea of a Cat harmony spell! Asking the cat goddess “Bast” is always a good way to go when addressing any feline issues. You’ll have to tell me if you do it and what the results are. Thank you for the compliment on my blog. Lyn from Witch Blog designed my whole blog look. You can see her badge on my sidebar and just click on the tag. And of course I don’t mind you asking. Lyn is fantastic to work with and if you don’t know her blog yet, you’ll love it. I can do basic graphics, but I agree with you that it’s always special to have a blog look that really is YOU. Talk to Lyn and I think you’ll really like her! Thanks for stopping by : ) I can help you with basics and setting up the “business” end of the blog as that’s something I love to do, you know with making it reader friendly and accessible. So, if you’d like help in that area, I’d be more than glad to help.
