If you haven’t heard or read about the “Under A Halloween Tea” blog party hosted by Anna over at “Frosted Petunia’s” blog, then hopefully I can tempt you to fly around tomorrow and see all the wonderful posts as well as entering yet another giveaway I’m having tomorrow. I’m very excited about this party, first because I’ve learned to love blog parties, (which has been an interesting journey) and we’ll be visiting my mother and the my other female ancestors for tea and Mexican Hot Chocolate at the graveyard!
By the way, Aine over at “The Deepest Well” blog has posted a really moving and lovely post about her female ancestors, so go check it out! PLUS she’s going to be hosting an “Ancestor’s Ball” blog party from Oct. 30 to Nov. 3 and I’m just dying to meet your ancestors . ![]()
These are two chocolate ambrosia drinks I’ll be serving to everyone when you come visit here tomorrow. I posted about my love for chocolate over on eWitch and included one recipe for Mexican Hot Chocolate there. I’m going to give you another recipe for Mexican Hot Chocolate AND how to make Chocolate Tea. Yes, I admit, I’m a choc-o-holic and proud of it!
I found this recipe over at this site. And then I found for around $13.00, the best Mexican Chocolate (disk form) and a Molinillo which is the authentic and fun way to stir the drink (or any hot frothy drink) HERE where you can order it online!
Mexican Hot Chocolate Recipe
4 (1-ounce) squares of Mexican Chocolate
2 tablespoons honey
1/4 cup hot water
Small pinch of salt
1 tsp instant coffee
2 cups of milk
1 egg (optional)
¼ tsp pure vanilla extract
1 dried red chile pepper
Ground cinnamon for sprinkling
In a medium-sized saucepan over medium-low heat, add the Mexican chocolate, honey, hot water, salt, coffee, and chile pepper. Heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture just begins to boil; reduce heat to low and let simmer, stirring constantly, for approximately an additional 1 minute. Carefully stir in the milk and let sit over low heat until the chocolate is too warm to touch (you can see the steam rising from it).
In a medium-size bowl, beat the egg until it is frothy, you can use an electric mixer, a Molinillo, or a fork for this. You just need to make it as frothy as possible. Add the vanilla extract and beat in well.
Pour the hot chocolate mixture over the frothed egg and beat it vigorously for about 15 seconds. You want to beat it until you have about 1/2- to 1-inch of foam on top.
Pour into cups or mugs to serve. Sprinkle some ground cinnamon over the hot chocolate once it is in the mug.
Now, I’ve never tried Chocolate Tea but I knew there had to be a recipe somewhere. So, I did some researching and found this recipe on this site. I’m going to be making it tomorrow along with the Mexican Hot Chocolate for the tea party and it looks interesting.
Ingredients:
Teapot
7 black tea teabags
2 cups water
2 cups whole milk
4 oz. dark chocolate syrup
Whipped cream
Dark chocolate sprinkles
Place 7 black-tea bags in a teapot. Pour 2 cups of boiling water over the tea bags and cover. Allow the tea to steep for at least 10 minutes.
Pour 2 cups of whole milk into a saucepan and warm over medium heat, stirring constantly until it begins to simmer.
Add the black tea to the milk and continue to stir over medium heat, blending well. Allow the mixture to simmer for two to three minutes, stirring constantly.
Add 4 oz. of dark chocolate syrup to the tea/milk mixture. Stir well until the chocolate syrup has completely melted and blended with the tea/milk mixture.
Remove the chocolate tea from the stove top, pour it into your teapot and cover.
Fill a mug with the chocolate tea. Top it with a swirl of whipped cream and a dash of dark chocolate sprinkles.
If you have any type of chocolate drink recipes or any other recipes for chocolate treats, please let me know! I’m always on the prowl for chocolate.
Hope to see you tomorrow. And of course the girls (Miss Bella and Sele) will be our feline guides walking with us through the night, but they’ll be drinking catnip tea instead of the chocolate beverages.

Re: the talisman. Very cool. I’ve never seen one like that. I do know keino means swing in Finnish. Btw, did you hear about a beer called Witch’s Wit with an image of a witch being burned at the stake on the label!!!!

Thank you for letting me visit at your delightful tea party. I had fun visiting with your family. It was a delight.
My family on my fathers side actually sailed over on an immigrant boat from Cicily.
I have noting but the wonderful tales of their past. My great great great grandfather was a cobbler, and my great great grandfather saw the last gunfight in the streets of Texas.
Please stop by and join me for some more magical fun,
Wendy from wonderland
