My good friend Leanne from “Cottage Tails“ has awarded me a “Stylish Blogger Award. ” Thank you Leanne! When I first started blogging I was just jonesing for a “Blog Award” and I still love receiving them and I also am extremely flattered and get all warm inside when someone likes my blog enough to give me one, BUT, I don’t necessarily like the “rules’ attached to them.
I feel that the award then becomes conditional and more like a chain letter. So, being the rebel I am, I’m going to change how I accept and give this award.
The formal rules of this award are this:
1. Thank and link back to the person who awarded you this award
2. Share 7 things about yourself
3. Award 15 recently discovered great bloggers
4. Contact these bloggers and tell them about the award!
Last year, I created my own award for “Kick Ass” blog award giving two of them to Jaimie-Lyn from “The Diary of a Bald Girl” and Aisha from “By the Broomstick.” I like the idea of giving an award that feels more personal to the recipient and there aren’t any necessary rules attached in order to receive the blog award.
I’ve made up my own “Stylish Blog” award to give to blogs who each have an unique style I like and admire and these are the conditions…None! <gasps from the audience>. If the following blogs choose to either follow the traditional “rules” above, fine! And if they don’t want to do that, that’s fine too.![]()
This is the “Stylish Blogger Award” I transformed and vamped up a little bit.
I like the idea of sharing seven things about myself, so here goes:
1) When I was a little girl I learned how to play the troubadour harp and loved it. My teacher was actually one of the people who taught Harpo Marx how to play. I haven’t played it in years, but maybe someday I might learn again.
2) I have a mad girl crush on the actress Monica Belluci.
3) I dream about my high-school boyfriend who looked and idolized Sid Vicious from the punk group “The Sex Pistols” at least three times a month (my tastes have changed since then
)
3) I was kicked out of Beverly Hills High School for “Oppositional Defiant Disorder“, which DOES relate to hanging out with boyfriend mentioned above. (But I looked nothing like Sid’s g.f., Nancy Spungen.)
4) I have seven tattoos, which I’ll take pictures of in another post and tell you about their meanings and stories.
5) Before I had my son, I used to be a total pothead and while I don’t smoke it anymore, I miss the high I used to get.
6) Two of my all time favorite movies are “Peggy Sue Got Married” because I’ve always wanted to go back to my high-school and redo it over again with the knowledge I have now and then “Sixteen Candles” because I related so much to Molly Ringwald’s character and always wanted to get the cute boy like she did in the movie, but never did. (I know a lot of high-school stuff here.)
7) This is a really wonderful example of how my father does love me, even though he doesn’t understand me. All throughout my teenage years, I had a mad crush on Mick Jagger who my dad didn’t like at all, (gee I wonder why?.) One day he was at an airport getting ready to leave for his plane and was sitting there in a coffee shop to kill time. Mick Jagger from the rock group “The Rolling Stones” came up with his then wife, Jerry Hall, and said to her; “You sit there (on my father’s right hand side) and I’ll sit here (on my father’s left hand side.) And my dad, bless his heart, said, “I’ll tell you what, I’ll move so you can sit next to each other, if you give me your autograph for my daughter who loves you.”
Remembering this makes me feel both sad and happy when I remember how close we used to be and how much he’s done to show me he loves me. I lost the autograph though somehow which really bums me out. Not so much because of the autograph itself, but because of what my dad did for me.
I’m going to pass on this award to seven blogs (to match the seven facts I’ve told you about myself), even though there are SO many out there I love, which you can see here on my blog page.
For those who I give this award to, remember there are no rules on how you accept it (you don’t even have to accept it if you don’t want to) or how you pass it on. ![]()
1) Lyn from “Witch Blog“ because she reminds me of one of my fave. actress’ Emma Thompson with her honesty, wit and down to earth personality and makes you feel like a beloved friend when you read her blog. She also is truly a “practical magic” witch of the best sort.
2) Theresa from “Welcome to my World, Faerie Moon Creations” because she’s so poetic in the way she writes and uses the most beautiful images to highlight her posts. She and I have such similar tastes, I swear we were separated at birth.
3) Stacy from “A Live Lived Well…In Pursuit of Abundance“ because she’s one of the funniest people I know and has such a large and warm heart. And when she talks about her daughter I crack up so hard. Whenever I’m in a down mood, I just visit her blog and it always makes me smile.
4) Linda from “Ye Olde Crone’s Gazette“ because she is one of those “wise women” who has such incredible wisdom, insight and tell-it-like-it-is personalities that I’m drawn too and cherish.
5) If you don’t know “Mr Puddy” from his blog and you like cats, (which I think I’ve mentioned I do), you have to and I mean have to visit him. He is one of the most beautiful, funniest and intelligent cats out there. My girls love to visit his blog every day!
6) Stephi from “Hope for the Flowers“ has one of the most courageous, gentle and loving souls you can think of. She blogs with such depth and honesty about her painful struggles with her depression without ever appearing like a victim.
7) Pamela from “Sweet Soliloquies“ is an avid book reader like myself and I always love reading what books she’s reading and what book reading challenges she’s taken on. Like Lyn, she also makes you feel right at home on her blog welcoming you in with open arms and heart. She blogs about her autistic son with such grace and beautiful simplicity.
So, I hope you’ve not only enjoyed learning a little more about my whacky self, but may have been introduced to new blogs you would like to check out.
Again, thank you Leanne so much for my award! I love to read Leanne’s blog to see what’s going on with life around her New Zealand farm house with all her animals (lots of kitties), family and her crafts sprinkled with her lovely spirituality.
(By the way, Sele is back to her normal, happy, loving self. She’s sitting on my lap purring contentedly as I write this post. Thank you all for your loving and wonderful comments. We both appreciate them all! >^..^<

Wendy, my Ron is a HUGE “Mick & the boys” fan. LOL we went and saw them in 1989 (Steel Wheels), and since for some reason the seats we had, were given out twice, they moved use up to the chairs on the ground in front of the stage, it was awesome! They are a great band, but I can honestly say I do not get the attraction to Mick;)
Our Thomas is a “Pothead” and later if you visit my blog you’ll see something I made for his “Bowl” I do not have anything against pot, i just do not think it should be smoked daily, just like I do not think people should drink everyday. That’s just me.
I love the new award you created, and since Lyn is inviting anyone to take it from her blog. I am, that way i can spread it
you are so cool with your computer skills…and playing the HARP…i am very impressed!
Hugs,
Sue
