Large One World One Heart Event 400x317 One World, One Heart Event, Fifth and Final Year

I want to thank everyone who flew by my blog and said “hi.” I hope we’ll continue to get to know each other. The winner of my giveaway is: Cheryl from “Artsy-Fartsy“! icon smile One World, One Heart Event, Fifth and Final YearCongrats. Cheryl I’ll email you about your mailing info.

I was telling Christine from “Hope Despite Depression” that I’m shy and introverted when it comes to making new friends. It’s not that I don’t like meeting people, I just always have in the back of my mind that if “people really knew me, they wouldn’t like me because of this, that, etc…” And yet, here in the blogging world, I’ve made friends who I used to think would never give me the time of the day only to be proven wrong.

People have reached out to me, complimented me and supported me in a way I could never have imagined when I first started blogging. I’ve been really blessed to have made some close friends this way as well as discovering new blogs. A great way for everyone to make new friends and find out about other blogs you might like is  by participating at blog events like the one coming up at the end of this month;  “One World, One Heart.”

“One World, One Heart” has been going on for five years now with incredible success and this will be the final year that the event will take place. Many of you might know Lisa Swifka from “A Whimsical Bohemian,” who started this and if you don’t know her yet, I think you’ll see why she’s so well-liked and respected if you stop by her blog. Visiting all the blogs who have signed up for the “One World One Heart” event is like that will be taking a virtual trip around the world so that you can make new friends and catch up with friends you already know at their blogs open house. This is what Lisa says about the event;

“One World One Heart is a worldwide event for bloggers only. It gives all those who blog a chance to meet and mingle and form connections with those they may not have otherwise met from all over the world. In the past 4 years this event has grown to over 1,000 participants with lasting friendships (and even one love connection) formed along the way. Think of it as a GIGANTIC open house allowing you to travel without ever leaving your home……..going from blog to blog(in various countries) seeing the wonder each one has created and meeting all the fabulous people behind those blogs. As a bonus each blogger participant will offer up a “door prize or prizes”….just for dropping by, saying hello and seeing their world.”

You can read more about it here and if you want to see how it’s been held in the past you can go to this page and visit some of the blogs who participated last year. I’ve been giving you sneak peaks here and there of the giveaway I’ll be having and I feel this will be the perfect time to hold this. Lisa wants to stress that:

“The giveaway portion is merely a bonus and is more of a “door prize” you might win for stopping by and looking around. The sole purpose for creating this was NOT to be all about winning something but to possibly win a new and wonderful friend or many of them.”

The first day will be January 30th and runs all the way to February 17th giving you the chance to visit all the blogs participating.

I’ve been visiting the blogs that were involved last year and I am amazed at the generosity, creativity and warmth I’ve been seeing. This is the giveaway that I’ll be having as a “door prize” just to say thank you for stopping by my blog and saying “hi” and/or introducing yourself if you’re a new reader.

If you do decide to participate, your “door prize” doesn’t have to be anything elaborate. There are a lot of artists out there who offer their hand made treasures which are special and unique. I am not “crafty” at all, which is why I’ll be offering the jewelry and the scarf you see below made by Theresa from “Faerie Moon Creations.” I have a few of her pieces and they are are truly magickal and exquisite.

One World One Heart Giveaway 400x304 One World, One Heart Event, Fifth and Final YearAgain, to read further details and the guidelines for participating, please visit the blog to to read more about it. And if you decide not to be one of the people who sign up to participate, you’ll still be able to visit all the blogs and enter the giveaways being held, simply be having an active blog.

I have to thank Abi who has become a dear friend to me for telling me about the “One World, One Heart” event. She will be creating a doll just for event and if you haven’t met Abi or have seen her gorgeous dolls stop by her blog and introduce yourself. I think you’ll understand immediately why I love her and her dolls so much. This is one of her dolls she just created for an “Art Doll Challenge”;

Abi Monroe Doll One World, One Heart Event, Fifth and Final YearI would so love to see you there and if you have any friends that you think who would also love to be involved, be sure to send them here to learn more about it.

About Wendy S.

I'm slightly "mad" with a good shaking of whimsy thrown in for good measure. When I'm not up, I'm down and sometimes if I'm lucky I'm somewhere in between due largely to having Bipolar Disorder and crazy genes ; ) I'm pagan by nature and witch by choice and I have two very beloved and spoiled feline familiars, Miss Bella and her sister, Sele. Am I a crazy cat lady? I'm an introvert in the "real" world but I love meeting new friends especially in the blogosphere where I've been blessed to meet many of you. Please introduce yourself if you'd like so that we can get to know each other better, especially if you have a blog that I can visit. And thank you for flying the friendly skies of United Broom Stick Airlines with me. Hold onto your hat, it's going to be an interesting ride.

It will be time consuming I know Christine to visit all the blogs that will be joining. There are already more blogs involved than last year. I’m just going to take my time and think of it like traveling all over the country to meet new people. I’ll pace myself and enjoy all the sights and people along the way. I hope you’ll visit me and enter for the giveaway if you’d like :)

I told you “all” about OWOH a couple of weeks back. As it was a main post on my blog, and on my sidebar. That is why I made my blog last year (it will be a year old 2/5)
I rubber stamped 2 sets of 40 envelopes(2 sizes) and awarded two winners, the first winner also got 10 postage stamps, plus a surprise for each which was a altered box to put their envelopes, stationary and stamps in. Luckily they were both in the US. SINCE Lisa is making it mandatory that no one can say (no internationals) I am making some for a US winner and something for an International winner that will be lighter. (less postage) I am kind of hoping one of Lisa’s friends picks this up. I really hate that it is the final year, it was so very awesome last year, and I did make some friends that are still with me a year later.
here is the post with my giveaway listed: http://piecesoffatesusan.blogspot.com/2010/02/oneworld-one-heart.html

here is the first winner’s box: http://piecesoffatesusan.blogspot.com/2010/02/feb-27-post-3-owoh-winners.html

    and the 2nd winner’s: http://piecesoffatesusan.blogspot.com/2010/04/finallyfinished-my-2nd-owoh-winners-box.html

Since it is also my 1 year blogoversary, my giveaways will have to be really good. LOL

soooo glad you’ll be joining us!

I don’t know how you stay on top of all the social blog events going on, Sue, but you’re always involved and have such wonderful giveaways. I visited your blog post for the event last year and wow, what great giveaways you had. I definitely am planning on visiting you and look forward to talking to you about the mad rushing around. : ) And I hope too that someone will pick up the torch for next year. I read on Lisa’s blog that there have been a few people who wanted to take it on, so maybe….

  3. avatar Aine says:

Thanks for the info on this. I think it’s a great idea and I’ll give some thought to it. I’m pretty overwhelmed right now so I may not be able to participate because of the giveaway aspect (I just managed to mail my last giveaway – *sigh*) To be honest I wish we didn’t have to do the giveaway thing to participate – BUT I still will check out the blogs and visit some of them!

I understand about assuming that people won’t like you. I am working on that too – old wounds take a long time to heal…

I hear you Aine, with having to have a giveaway and it’s important you pace yourself as you’re doing. I know that you’ve just taken on some new work which needs a lot of attention and on top of that blogging. I like the way that this is set up because you can still participate and visit other blogs, and enter for the giveaways, even though you may not be holding a blog open house. I’ve visited some of the blogs that participated last year and it’s really interesting to find new blogs that I like. I really hope you’ll stop by here and say “hi.”

Hi Jamie-Lyn, I would love it if you participated. You create so much great art and I think you’d love the dashing around and seeing other artists and bloggers like I will. I like that it’s spread out the way it’s set up otherwise I’d never be able to see all the other blogs. And of course I know you’ll enter for this giveaway, yes? ; )

  5. avatar Theresa says:

Wendy, I am SO excited that you will be taking part in One World One Heart! You will have a wonderful time. :) Thank you, as always for your friendship and support! I hope whoever wins your lovely giveaway will feel stylish and keep warm! Abi is AMAZING in so many ways – I hope to one day own one of her beautiful dolls. And what she does on behalf of animals is just wonderful. :) Take care and I’ll chat with you soon! Theresa

I saw your post last year for the “One World..” Theresa and loved it. You’ve inspired me to not have a typical rushed welcome post for the event. I know whomever wins this giveaway will absolutely love everything. How could they not? It’s tempting for me to keep it all to myself, but I told you already that once I set aside treasures I buy for a giveaway I force myself to follow though. I can’t wait to see what you come up for this year. Your post was so magickal ad beautiful just like you : )

  6. avatar Mr Puddy says:

Second, I love your new look of the blog

Third, Thank you so much to visit my blog and made a lovely comment

Hi Mr. Puddy! I must say that my “girls” were quite excited to see you visiting us here as we love to read all your posts : ) Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have a pet blog hop? Not necessarily in the same way that the “One World…” one will be held, but one just for pets and the people they own to meet each other. Big purrrs to you.

~this is wonderful that you will be stepping out of your comfort zone a bit…i know you will enjoy yourself tremendiously…i too will be participating..i missed last year and was quite disappointed…still pondering my thoughts for the wee little door prize…theresa…such a dear sweet soul…and yes her work is just wonderful…i look forward to visiting abi as i have yet to visit…thank you for sharing and goo dluck on planning your post for owoh…much love light and blessings be with you always~

    • avatar Wendy S. says:

Hi Faerwillow, I know whatever you decide to post and offer as a giveaway will be lovely. Your art and creativity is so wonderful and I look forward to visiting you.

  8. avatar Abi Monroe says:

Dear Wendy. Thank you for the ‘shout out’ I get embarrassed but I appreciate it :O)
Your giveaway is delicious – Ooh and I love the knitted scarf!!
Looking forward to seeing you there!!

You’re very welcome for the “shout out” and I understand about the embarrassment, and yet your blog is so wonderful and of course I love your dolls. I’m looking forward to mingling with you and others at “One World…” : )

  9. avatar Stephi says:

Wendy- what was that you said about my computer problems easing up because Mercury Retrograde was over? Obviously my bunny Buttercup disagrees- she chewed right through the cord of my laptop charger. She is lucky she wasn’t fried alive!. But I am now laptopless and internetless, except for my blackberry:(

This sounds like such a lovely idea and I’d love to participate but I’m not sure that my blog with it’s subject matter would be right for this. I am a bit like you, really shy about meeting new people (although you would’nt know it if you met me). Stuff like this always makes me feel really insecure because their is a possiblity of rejection. Especially since the focus of my blog is so close to my heart, it would hurt a lot. To bad I didn’t get my other blog started in time:(

I love your door prize- whoever gets them will be extremely lucky:)

    • avatar Wendy S. says:

      Hi Stephi,
Even if you don’t feel comfortable participating in “One World…” you can still visit all the blogs and enter for the lovely giveaways. So, I hope you will stop by my blog and enter. Just introducing yourself to other bloggers might be a nice way to help with your shyness and meet new connections. And I completely understand about wondering if your blog would be “right.” If I had just my other blog for bipolar disorder which I promise will be up in a few weeks, maybe sooner, I might now want to participate with my blog either. It would be wonderful and maybe we can think of something with other similar bloggers to have a kind of “blog hop” not with any giveaways for people who have mood disorders. It’s important for us to meet and then form a community with others as you know. And you never know, maybe this will be the year for you to start your other blog you had in mind. If you want any help setting it up or designing it, let me know as I love to do that kind of stuff. I’m better at helping others than myself sometimes.
