It’ll be a week tomorrow since I’ve moved into my apartment. Moving was one of the most exhausting experiences ever (kind of like giving birth) and I’m so glad that parts over. Settling in has been a whole other experience. My camera’s battery is in one of the unpacked boxes, so as soon as I find it, I’ll share photos of what my apartment looks like.
I had an organizer to help me move in (thank you dad!) which made all the difference. Everything was unpacked except for a few boxes so there wasn’t chaos around me. One of the first things we unpacked were all my witchy/magickal items. <Sigh of relief>. I know many witch’s/pagan’s don’t need anything for magickal works, but my statues, candle’s, incense and other little symbolic tchotchkes make all the difference for me. Again, I’ll show you a photo of when I find the camera’s battery.
I feel like a proper witch again and even performed a small spell already. My one wish before I had moving here was to develop a great and strong circle of friends. I put it out into the universe and lit a yellow candle for energy, a blue candle for peace and a brown candle for stability. I asked the Gods for a sign that I was on the right path.
I decided to go to the Meetup site and look around to see if I could spot any groups that would appeal to me. I’ve had some good experiences in finding like minded people with Meetup so figured it wouldn’t hurt. I really wanted to join a book club since I devour books, but only found one that was closed to new members.
I did find one that’s meant for “wise women”! A woman who’s older than 40 is considered wise and one who’s younger is searching for “wisdom.” I guess I’m kind of a wise woman as I’m 47. Sometimes, I’m more the fool though. That’s happening this Saturday and I’m looking forward to it.
A lot of the core members of the group will be gone for Memorial Day weekend, but there’s going to be five women there, which is cozy for really getting to know others. I took finding this as a good sign, that the energy I put out there is being approved by the powers that be.

Did my ritual help me find this group or was it luck? I believe that it WAS because of my intentions and small ritual, which kicks my intuition out of slumber and gear which has been low since the whole house selling and moving process. My friend, Lyn from “Witch Blog” wrote an interesting post on intuition and what happens if we don’t pay attention to it. My intuition and a small ritual I did also lead me to finding this apartment. It’s when I close down my intuition that life seems to stand still.
I don’t know that I’ll find any new “BFF’S” or not from this group, but it feels really good to dust off my dormant magick. I’ll let you all know how the group went.
Any suggestions on what I can do to find new friends?

I think meetup was a great idea. Doing what you love to do is a great way to find friends. But if you asked for this you will get it, maybe in some unexpected ways. I remember your reading and so I feel confident that you will find a group of good people.
I’m so glad to hear that you are getting settled in and already started to work on making connections. It’s a great way to not only make friends but get to know your new environment. I love that, even though you’re tired from moving, you sound very hopeful and positive!
Sending you all the best thoughts and energies!!
Hey Wendy!
Congratulations on your successful move! Meetups are a great place to start. You may also want to look on Witchvox and see if there are local pagans/witchy types in your area.
Good luck and many blessings in your new adventure!
When I was in purgatory, ahem…VA, for 6 years before coming home to my Motherland, I was extremely lonely and isolated. They don’t like us Yankees down there and I didn’t like them either.
That’s neither here nor there. What I did was put my intention out to the Universe to find someone that I could trust who would have a child within my child’s age range who wasn’t just a “mommy”. Who had a brain in her head and was interested in more than “playdates” with the kids.
I went to a yoga studio and 2 weeks later there she was. I put my intention out, trusted that the Goddess and the Universe heard me and then I put myself out there in a place where a like minded person may be.
Here’s to friends!
Sounds like you are on the right path and I admire your initiative to reach out to like minded people to share time with. Intuition is a very powerful aspect of who we are – we don’t always recognize what our inner-self is imeadiately telling us, but I find it best to follow the path to see where it leads!
Welcome to your new home and hugs to the girls!
I think you are on the right path. Your intentions certainly are a huge part of the success of your endeavor as is your mind set. Even seeking out others is huge. Congratulations on your super attitude towards this move. And hip hip hurrah on getting lots unpacked so the chaos wouldn’t take over.
Things being out of place have a terrible effect on me as well and I can appreciate the level of discomfort.
Sounds like you are making this move a positive. You know silk purse, sow’s ear kinda thing.

Hun, I am so proud of you for taking this move so well – like I’ve said before I hate moving, it’s so stressful! The very first things I unpacked after my last two moves were my witchy stuff and my books; I’m a firm believer that books give a house a soul and I couldn’t deal with being in those new spaces without that feeling.
As for the friend thing, I’m not the best person to give advice on that subject. After being here for two years, I made one amazing friend who fell off the face of the planet 6 months later and two acquaintances who while I really like them seem to always be super busy or just flake out. That being said though, I truly hope you find some lovely people in this group, it sounds like the universe is sending you some strong signs!
As for Gaia, just email me your address at artful.danni(at)gmail and let me know which email you use for Paypal and I’ll shoot you an invoice for payment. You’ll get a notification and once it’s paid I’ll pop her in the priority envelope and she’ll be there super quick to grace your new space!
Hi Wendy! I just discovered that your posts were not showing up in my blog reader so I’ve missed out on all your news about settling into your new place after your big move, etc. I’ve re-entered your url into my blog reader so that problem has now been fixed!
I am hopeful that the positivity of this post will return to you soon! And I am most looking forward to seeing photos of your new abode…I am sure it is lovely. I hope that you will enjoy the group you found – and maybe there will be another book club just around the corner. Maybe you could even try contacting the closed group and explain that you are new to the area and LOVE books…maybe they will find space for one more? Sending happy hugs your way!
