“It is a truth universally acknowledged that a zombie in possession of brains must be in want of more brains.”
Wow, it feels like forever since I’ve last talked to all of you…my heads spinning so fast I don’t know where to start. At the first week of October I’ll be moving out of my house TEMPORARILY because there’s major construction that needs to be done here and I won’t eve go into the details. I’ll be moving into an apartment for a two months!
My therapist, Shawn who is one of the most amazing people in the world has been acting as a mediator/buffer between my parents and myself because the situation is just so charged right now esp. when it comes to money and she’s managed to make incredible headway with them while keeping me somewhat sane ![]()
In fact, get this…I told you about my father getting pretty adamant about me not moving to New Mexico, well now in a total turn around which I also give credit to my stepmother for is actually paying for me to go on a two week vacation in either January or February so that I can see if I would like living there in the dead of winter. I can tell you now, without a doubt, I’ll love living there in any season even though I’m a born and bred second generation California Girl. Pretty amazing right?
I’ve had major challenges with my health in the form of agonizing migraine headaches due to stress I know but also the humidity and the weather has been playing havoc with me. I’ve always had headaches but goddess bless those of you who have been disabled by migraines because the one’s I’ve been having definitely knock me on the ass but they don’t last for days and I don’t get all the horrible side-effects like vomiting, etc…My psychiatrist put me on a med. for my migraines which turned me into a zombie and I felt even sicker and more depressed because of their effects.
So now I’m completely off any med. for my migraines and some days I’m knocked off my ass with the pain but I’ve learned a few tips for just staying afloat during them without resorting to any medications. Even over-the-counter drugs like Tylenol or Aspirin causes a really harsh reaction but I found a pain reliever for headaches that’s “natural” (for the most part) and doesn’t make me feel like I’m a creature from “The Night of the Living Dead” or better yet, a zombie from “Pride and Prejudice.”
Life IS good though and even though I feel catatonic at times, and get wrapped up in anxiety and fear, I manage to get through the days, and just do it.
So, please forgive me if I’m not visiting your blogs, I just have so much to do and only so much brain power to expend right now. I do miss all of you and will catch up with you if when life gets a little calmer. I’m off to replenish myself with a bit of brains for a late breakfast now as mine seem to have vanished.
“Living men are bound by time… Thus, their lives have an urgency. This gives them ambition. Makes them choose those things that are most important, cling more tightly to that which they hold dear. Their lives have seasons, and rites of passage, and consequences. And ultimately, an end. But what of a life with no urgency? What then of ambition? What then of love?”

A mediator is an EXCELLENT idea and I’m glad that you’re seeing good results already. Sending hugs and white light and . . . oh, who am I kidding . . . BRAAAAIIIIINNNSSSS!!!!!
Oh Wendy! You have been in my thoughts so very, very often. I can imagine how much you have on your plate right now, so please only focus on what needs to be done and then enjoy some free time just for yourself, okay? I will be sure to write an email one of these days, but right now please rest assured that you are thought of often and lovingly.
Hugs,
Birgit
I’m sorry to hear about your health nightmare.
I’ve suffered from migraines since the age of 19. I had an atypical migraine about 2 years ago and my last migraine was so bad I ended up in the emergency room. I am now undergoing tests to see if I actually had a TIA (mini-stroke). My advice is to go to a neurologist and have them evaluate you. You may need an MRI to make sure everything is a.o.k. and nothing structurally is causing them. I am one of those “give me the cause not meds” kinda gal.
Best of luck with it.
By the way, what med made you feel like a zombie? I’m wondering if it’s the one that’s making me feel that way.
Hey darling girl. So glad you have someone else involved in dealing with your Dad. Money is a terrible divide for some people.
I think the wisdom of coming to visit NM in the winter will be evident when you come. It isn’t SCal but it is stark and vivid and is otherworldly to those who eyes can perceive it. NM is the kind of place that if you belong, you know it and if you are just living here, you can get along fine but you miss the nuances of magick.
Sorry about your migraines. I’m a sufferer as well. Not nearly so much as when I was in my 40′s. Yikes back then.
Enjoy your brainzzzzzzzzzzzz and take care. Oma Linda
sorry you are still going through some junk. Perhaps taking a P/T job would give you something to focus on.
Having a purpose, and feeling needed goes a long way to healing. I have found that out.
Hugs and many blessings,
Susan
So glad that the mediator is helping. Hope the migraines resolve themselves soon…I’ve suffered from them at least monthly since I was 12 so I now what you are going through!
Hugs

Hi again,
I never been to New Mexico but my parents have. What made you decide to move there?
Believe me, you know I KNOW about migraines. It really ain’t pretty. Believe it or not, the thing that helped me sometimes actually turned out to be the hardest: Going for a walk. Just around the block. Just try it once and see how that works for you. Some days I would literally be in so much pain that my Mom would have to drag me by the hand. At the very least getting out of the house will make you feel somewhat better.
All the best to you Wendy with all the plans for the future. It’s going to be exciting!!

Your blog is quite beneficial and thank you for offering a lot of valuable articles. I am glad to hear that the mediator is helping and hope that the migraines will resolve themselves soon.Thank you!

Hi Wendy,
I just re-read the lovely comments you left on my blog a while ago. All your words are so very much appreciated! I hope you are doing well — you have been in my thoughts so very often.
Maybe you want to check out my Oktoberfest giveaway (still open until October 2nd). As you always give so freely, it would be nice to give you the chance to win something for yourself. Besides, it would be nice to welcome you back to my blog.
Hugs,
Birgit
I like your blog especially with the sprinkling + everytime that I am using a cursor. It is nice to know that there will be a renovation of your place and your moving into an apartment. Maybe it is time for you to have a break. I was intrigued of learning to be a zombie title. And it is a good thing that it wasn’t literally. Thanks for the interesting article.
